North East Ecological Services

A small, hard-working consulting firm based in New Hampshire. Established in 1996, NEES was founded to meet the research needs of state and federal wildlife agencies. In the last 20 years, we have focused on developing research tools, answering critical questions, and solving problems related to the conservation of bats in North America.
Dr. D. Scott Reynolds, Ph.D.
Founder and Principal

Scott began NEES during his graduate studies at Boston University. While studying the population biology of bats in New Hampshire, he quickly became a source of knowledge and ideas for state and federal biologists in the New England area. NEES was founded to create a way for these agencies to pay for his expertise.

As his interests and experience diversified, so did those interested in his skill sets. Before long, Scott was working throughout the northeast and Canada and has customers in multiple sectors, including private, governmental, and non-profits.

Scott continues to work as an academic researchers through his affiliations with St. Paul's School in Concord, NH and Boston University in Boston, MA. This makes for a hectic schedule, but when you are doing what you love, it is not really work.

Although often asked to provide additional services, Scott has kept NEES grounded in what he does best - provide tools and answers in the questions that are relevant to bats throughout the world.

Project Managers and Field Managers

NEES maximizes their service quality by working with research colleagues to meet specific project goals and by forming strategic collaborations with other experts and consultants when the full picture requires a more diverse expertise.

This provides two primary benefits for the customer; first, NEES remains small with low overhead to provide the best quality at the lowest price. But equally as important, strategic collaboration allows NEES to match the expertise with the project so that the goals and experience as alligned to maximize efficiency.

Field Technicians

Perhaps the best part of what I do is spend time in the field with young biologists and nature enthusiasts. As a consultancy operated by an academic researcher, NEES has access to an endless supply of knowledgeable and enthusiastic field technicians that are studying science at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Their creativity, endless energy, and excitement about field work brings out the teacher, mentor, and parent in all of our Field Managers.
